Night of a Thousand Candles at Brookgreen Gardens
This is Brookgreen Garden’s most popular annual event and it’s become a holiday tradition for many families. Thousands of lights sparkle from Live Oak trees and illuminate all the garden paths as numerous musicians perform, carolers sing and visitors experience the enchantment that can only be found here at this time of the year. Open 3-10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17 through Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015.

A Christmas Wonderland in North Myrtle Beach
The North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex is holding an extravaganza unlike any other in the area. From December 17-31 enjoy a long list of festive activities for the whole family! Every day from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. the following events as well as more will take place — Christmas “Under the Sea”, 3D Walk to the North Pole, Hayride lights show, Puppet show, a petting zoo and a family circus act, and Holiday paintball. Fee is Adult $20, kids 5-12 $10, kids 4 and under admitted for free.

The Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre is presenting The Nutcracker at Coastal Carolina University on Sat., Dec. 19 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 20 from 2-4 p.m. Come enjoy the elegance and festivity that comes with seeing a live Christmas show! Bring the family to Coastal Youth Ballet Theater in the CCU’s Wheelwright Auditorium.

With the holidays approaching there’s plenty to do around the area if you’re looking for local activities. The holiday happenings at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach that take place from now through Christmas are especially worth mentioning. Many seasonal craft vendors, live greenery and super fresh food will make up this year’s festive Holiday Bazaar on Howard Avenue. The bazaar is held from noon to 4 p.m. every Saturday through Nov. 19.

You can enjoy live Music in the Streets with these extra special sounds of the season every Saturday from 2-5 p.m. through Dec. 19. The following musicians will be performing in the gazebos on Howard and Reed Avenues at the Market Common:

Holiday Happenings at The Market Common

The Market Common will host their annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday November 21 from 6-8 p.m. in front of the Grand 14 Cinema. Mike the Magician will amaze everyone with his slight of hand. Santa will surprise everyone with his magical arrival! Come enjoy the street entertainment, balloon art, and your favorite mascots. Stick around after the show for a special meet and greet opportunity with Santa himself!

Complimentary Carriage Rides can be had from 3-6 p.m. on Nov. 15, 21, 29 and Dec. 6, 13, 20, 21, 22, and 23 with pick up and drop off in front of Dolce Lusso Salon. If you’ve never taken a horse drawn carriage ride it’s something to be experienced! Taking one at this time of the year with the Common decorated for the holidays makes it extra special indeed!
