The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are a minor league baseball team in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. They are a Class A team in the Carolina League and have been a farm team of the Atlanta Braves since 1999. The Pelicans play home games at Coastal Federal Field, which opened in 1999 and seats up to 6,000 fans. They are the only Braves affiliate without the name "Braves". Former Pelicans include Rafael Furcal, Marcus Giles, Jeff Francouer, Adam LaRoche, Ryan Langerhans, Wilson Betemit and Chuck James. Coastal Federal Field is a family friendly ballpark with a Speed Pitch, Obstacle Course, and Moon Bounce on the concourse. Every seat is a good one at Coastal Federal Field.
Also, in 2004, Baseball America rated the friendly confines of Coastal Federal Field as the #2 ballpark in the country at the Class-A level.
