Myrtle Beach is a beloved vacation spot. We take pride in our award-winning beaches and seaside resort hotels, but don’t be fooled – the fun doesn’t stop when the seasons change!
Try these festive, family-friendly things to do during your visit:
1. Spend a magical afternoon in Christmas Towne.
December 1, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Head to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and treat your children to face painting, balloon art, rides, games, hot chocolate, a letter-writing station and even a photo session with Santa and Mrs. Claus. The best part? The 10th Annual Christmas Towne event is free to attend.
2. Wave to Santa at the Main Street Parade.
December 7, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Choose a spot along Main Street in North Myrtle Beach to enjoy a traditional Christmas parade. Kids will be thrilled by the many festive sights and sounds, including traditional music, school bands, classic cars and local celebrities, as performers and floats travel down Main Street to Ocean Boulevard. Remember to bring blankets and lawn chairs to sit on!
3. See the many lighted tree and shops.
Dates and Times Vary by Location
Whether you’re able to attend one of the many Christmas tree and plaza lighting ceremonies around town, or would rather visit after they’ve been lit for the year, your whole family will be inspired by the combination of twinkling lights and traditional music at some of the best shopping areas around town, including:
• Broadway at the Beach, a well-known shopping, dining, entertainment and nightlife complex
• The Market Common, a popular outdoor collection of restaurants, boutiques and salons
• Barefoot Landing, a shopping and entertainment complex in North Myrtle Beach
4. Bask in the glow of thousands of candles.
December 5 – 7, 12 – 14, 19 – 21, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Stroll through Brookgreen Gardens during the Nights of a Thousand Candles celebration to enjoy the warm glow of 5,500+ hand-lit candles alongside hundreds of soft electric lights. Enjoy the peaceful songs of live carolers and hand bells, as well as catered dining options. This attraction is worth the short drive from Myrtle Beach.
5. Laugh out loud with your whole family.
